What We Do

At Chicago Induction, we heat treat metal using a variety of processes.

Induction hardening: Hardening the surface of steel by application of heat generated by a magnetic field followed by immediate quenching.

Induction annealing: Softening steel by heating and slow cooling that improves machine-ability and improves cold working properties.

Shrink fitting: Using heat to fit one piece of metal into or onto another.

Tempering: Heating and cooling ferrous metals to decrease hardness and increase toughness to produce a desired combination of mechanical properties.

Induction brazing: Connecting metal parts together by using heat.

Flame hardening: Hardening steel surfaces by heating with a high temperature flame followed by quenching.

Prototype work: We work with customers to develop processes for parts of all sizes and shapes, specializing in accommodating complex or difficult specifications. We can help ramp up production to small batches and to high volume production runs.
